Our Kuleana
Guided by a deep respect for the land and inspired by the ocean, The Ritz-Carlton Oʻahu, Turtle Bay is committed to honoring Hawaiian values of responsibility and care. Spanning 1,100 acres, the resort is a sanctuary of untouched beauty, where secluded beaches, lush forests, and rugged coastlines come together to create a peaceful retreat in harmony with nature.
Turtle Bay embodies the spirit of the North Shore through a genuine commitment to mālama (care) for the land. We embrace our Kuleana as a reciprocal relationship between people and the environment, recognizing both the responsibility and privilege of stewardship for future generations. Through thoughtful, sustainable practices, we strive to nurture and protect this sacred place.
The ʻĀina (Land) and Moana (Ocean)
Turtle Bay’s landscape flourishes with more than 50,000 native flowers, shrubs, and trees—many found nowhere else in the world. Nestled between Kahuku’s majestic mountains (Mauka) and the endless ocean (Makai), the 468-acre Kuilima Farm serves as a thriving center for fresh produce and cultural learning.
This rich environment is also home to diverse wildlife, including the Honu (Pacific Green Sea Turtle) and the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal, as well as over 70 bird species. As part of the Hawaiian Island Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary, the resort offers a front-row seat to these magnificent creatures from December through May.
We invite you to experience Hawaiʻi’s vibrant ecosystem through surfing, kayaking, and birdwatching while respecting conservation efforts. Admire nature from a distance and help us preserve this special place for generations to come.
